SPF

Because I'm so, um, trendy and I hate spam, I decided to set up SPF for my email server stuff.

Apparently, it is somewhat controversial (or something like that); so if you are a Computer Scientist, I was wondering what you think of it. This blog has comments enabled, so it's alright to comment on it, so please do.

Meep!

Yeah, that's how I feel about Gaim right now. It works, but it's evil, which is horrible since I love it so. Anyway, I made a theme for its Guifications plugin (which also has issues); it is the aptly named Meep.tgz. Maybe I should work on a better IM/Chat client thingy/program that isn't so evil.

MT Patches

These are patches that needed to be applied to Movable Type 3.0D to get it working as I wanted:

lib-MT-Template-Context.pm.patch Fixes commenter links so they don't open new windows and fixes Google API results so they are actually valid XHTML.
lib-MT-Util.pm.patch Fixes TypeKey authentication so it actually works with Perl 5.8.5.

If You Can Read This You Don't Need Glasses

Congradulations, since you're reading this I will assume that DNS requests are properly resolving to my new server.

For those of you who don't already know, my previous web hosting provider decided to enforce a no binary executable policy on me (rather strange, as the whole reason I switched to them was to run my Search Engine which is most definitely a binary executable, and I'd been doing that for almost 2 years). So after a few weeks of letting my website run crippled, I have switched to a new hosting provider, one that provides me with my own virtual server running FreeBSD and allows me to do almost anything I want.

Except run PostgreSQL, because apparently shared memory is disabled. So instead I'm grudgingly using MySQL, cringe!
